Eleanor Hughes
Eleanor Hughes' paintings are a composite of experiences in several
cultures and a passion for the decorative aspects of nature. She
received her BFA at the University of Georgia, studied in Spain,

specializing in fine art and hand-painted fabrics. Eleanor moved
to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1987 and continued painting in oil. She
currently lives again in St. Augustine and continues to work expressively
in her representational painting.
She has exhibited in Atlanta; Soho, New York; throughout Florida;
Santa Fe, New Mexico; Washington, D.C.; Southern Maryland.
Artist’s Statement
“I’m not interested in painting in a photorealistic
way, but as an emotional response to what I see.
In my figurative work I want to convey a story or
a feeling.”
