Eleanor Hughes and Curt Bowman
have been a design team for over 20 years. Their first design
studio, Tropico, focused on textile and graphic design. Later they
expanded their expertise in museum design and production and created
the Hughes Bowman Design Group, Inc. in 1994.

Curt Bowman
Curt Bowman has been designing and producing museum exhibits for
28 years. His background includes training in exhibit design, architecture,
graphic design and marine education.
Prior to forming HBDG, Curt held a senior design position at the
National Archives and served as an exhibit developer for the Smithsonian
Institution. In addition, Curt was co-director of an American Association
of Museums International Partnership project between Calvert Marine
Museum, Maryland and South African Museum, Capetown.
He has obtained and worked on numerous grants awarded by National
Science Foundation, National Endowment For the Humanities, and Florida
Historical Preservation.

Jody Marcil
Jody has been a designer all her working life. She began as a set
designer and stylist for commercial photography, spent several years
as a fashion designer, and several more designing residential interiors
for celebrity clients in Los Angeles. In 2001, Jody moved to St.
Augustine, joining forces with HBDG to research, write, and design
exhibits.
